How I Gave up Soda {aka Coke} for Good

March 9, 2015 by Chandra Filed Under: Blog, Eat Clean Leave a Comment

I wasn’t always a soda {aka Coke} drinker!

No More SodaI call any kind of soda “Coke” {no not the illegal powdery stuff, but really maybe the brown fizzy liquid in the red can should be illegal} so let’s just get that clarification out of the way because to me the two words are going to be interchangeable in this post.  There I said it – all soda is coke {for some that might be Pepsi or pop or soda pop or sodey – it’s all the same}.  For me my addiction was to Diet Mt. Dew.

Unjunk your Diet™: Back to the Basics

February 9, 2015 by Chandra Filed Under: Blog, Clean Eating Tips, Eat Clean Leave a Comment

Eating Veggies FB

Unjunk your Diet™  basics is really getting back to eating clean.  Eating clean is eating foods in their most natural state possible. This includes eating whole grains, lean meats, and fresh fruits and vegetables – all organic and locally grown if possible.

Eating clean isn’t just healthy eating.  I hear so many people say “I eat healthy, see I’m having my “fat free”, “low carb” this or that for snacks and my Lean Cuisine for lunch” pfsh….please THAT is NOT eating clean.   These are chemical filled foods altered by food companies and branded to be healthy – you deserve better – your body deserves better!  This program will teach you how to see through those marketing tricks. Unjunk your Diet™: Top 10 Rules for Eating Clean

February 4, 2015 by Chandra Filed Under: Blog, Clean Eating Tips, Eat Clean, Unjunk your Diet Leave a Comment

So you want to Unjunk your Diet™ and start eating clean?  Here are my top 10 rules to get started:

Organic1.  Eat organic as much as possible.  Simply stated, organic produce and other ingredients are grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, genetically modified organisms, or ionizing radiation. Animals that produce meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products do not take antibiotics or growth hormones.    Remember we are trying to unjunk our diet so eating organic as much as possible is key AND it doesn’t have to break the bank.  If you can’t afford to eat all organic foods, then check out the EWG’s Dirty Dozen (the twelve most pesticide contaminated fruits and vegetables that should be purchased organically whenever possible), download the list {or get the app}.  [Read more…]

The Magical Clean Slate

Clean Slate

The Magical Clean Slate {AKA Jan 1}

You know what I’m talking about, right:

New Year, New You * Blank Slate * Wipe the Slate Clean * Fresh Start * This year I will……*

Yep, I am talking about the magical day of January 1st where you sit down to make a list of resolutions or goals and proverbially wipe the slate clean of the past year to focus on the new year and how magically THIS year will be won.der.ful! This is the time of year you buy a bunch of books on amazon thinking you’ll read them all this year, you sign up for a gym membership and the gym is overcrowded with people who did the exact same thing as you, you resolve to get a better job, promise to lose those 15 lbs {again}, this year you’ll eat healthy, you’ll pay off debt for sure, stop drinking, find a man, and the list goes on. Basic StirFry 2

For the past few years I’ve been trying to make easy, yet delish and fancy recipes, which actually have turned out somewhat complicated.  I’ve come up with a good number of these recipes, which I need to post here 🙂 one day, but with our lives getting more and more complicated, we decided that 2015 would be about living a more simple life by getting back to the basics. So tonight, we did just that with our Back to the Basics Stir Fry! And you know what, it was de.lish.ous! And it took less than 30 minutes. Here is the recipe:  [Read more…]

Did you know: [Read more…]

My story is a bit different from most others.  You see I was raised in a Shaklee family and a Shaklee business.  Growing up, thanks to Shaklee, I enjoyed good health and learning what the lifestyle of having two entrepreneurial parents meant.  It was never a question, I was going to college.  But after college, rather than build my own business, I wanted to experience Corporate Life, you know be a CEO or something {riiiight}. Day 4 - Chocolate Banana (1)I love cooking and creating healthy meals with my son, which is why I became a certified Healthy Hands Cooking Instructor.  Nothing makes me happier than seeing the joy in my son’s face while he creates his own healthy meals and snacks.  By involving him in the process, he’s more inclined to try new healthy foods.   [Read more…]

TESTIMONIALS

Vitalizer, vita-strip is my go-to for daily health. I’m a busy, working mom and it’s so nice to know my supplements will come right to my doorstep. Some days are so hectic that I don’t have time to cook a healthy meal or exercise, but I know I’ve done something great for my body by taking Vitalizer. I even took it as a prenatal vitamin (along with some extra B complex) knowing it was safe and healthy for my baby and myself.

My 5 year old son loved the Healthy Hands cooking class and has told all of our family about how he got to cook “purple carrots.” He’s also telling them about all of the other veggies he tried and was so proud of his cooking skills he’s offered to cook for his grandparents the next time they are in town!  I loved that he was willing to try several new vegetables and would definitely recommend Chef Chandra to any mom who wants her family to start eating healthy!

What an absolutely fun and educational class!  My daughter loved getting to control her veggie selections but also have the opportunity to try things she hadn’t before.  This class is an amazing perspective for kids to learn how to make healthy food choices.  She loved it so much that she made it at home and was so proud to pick the ingredients.  Thank you Chandra for making food fun!  My daughter can’t wait for the next class!

I have been eating pretty healthy for a while now, but typically get derailed by the end of the week due to being overwhelmed and under prepared.  I was lucky enough to be chosen to test pilot the Unjunk Your Diet program for the last 3 weeks and I love it!  I found that it was easy to follow, the meal organization tips helped me stay on track ALL week, the recipes are really delicious and simple to make, and as a side benefit I’ve lost 4 lbs!!!  I thought I felt good before, but my energy is through the roof these day….woohoo!!!
